Ikebana Seminar for ARS Certified Arrangement Judges and Interested Members

Virtual Presentation by Bruce Barr, ARS National Chair of Arrangement Judges and Hands -on- Practice by Iliana Okum, and Terry Palise, District Arrangement Judges

This seminar will focus on Ikebana designs and ARS judging guidelines. It is a two-hour seminar that will provide credits for certified arrangement judges to meet part of the 4-hour audit requirements.

All the ARS certified arrangement judges and interested members must bring the following to participate in the hands-on practice session following the virtual seminar presentation.

Three to five roses in any color, line materials such as branches or greens, and a low container. Also bring a kenzan -pin holder to secure the design to the container. Newspaper to cover the tables. Your tools to work the design. Secateurs or pruning shears to cut the stems, and any other tools you will need. (We will provide plastic kenzans for those members who are interested in designing but lack this item. Workshop participation- for those not certified as arrangement judges is limited to the first ten interested members signing up.)

Following the hands-on practice, we will discuss the judging elements required for Ikebana East Asian designs. There will be a sign-up sheet for all participants to be shared with ARS and the National Chair of Arrangement Judges to ensure credit for attendance at this seminar.
